The Lake Louise Preservation Association (LLPA) advocates for responsible planning and growth in the town of Weaverville, N.C. The need for an advocacy group is demonstrated by the current proposal to build 21 houses on 2 buildable acres of a 3 acre lot bordering the beautiful and well used Lake Louise Park. Someone—we feel in town or county government—should be charged with the responsibility to assess the impact on park safety, traffic flow and what this kind of high-intensity development would do a residential neighborhood. And yet there is no authority designated to do this, leaving our neighborhoods open to destructive and predatory development.
The LLPA is seeking both members and funding to challenge such destructive, predatory development. We want to keep our parks and diverse neighborhoods safe and in keeping with Weaverville’s small town traditions.
